What is an FCS?

FCS is short for "Field Control Station," a plant process control unit. 

The FCS hardware is manufactured by Yokogawa and features 99.99999% availability. When used in a duplexed configuration, switching to a stand-by unit is done automatically when an error is detected in the control module. This is done in milliseconds, ensuring that plant operations are not affected. In addition, the two processor modules each have two CPUs that constantly compare their calculation results. This unique "Pair & Spare" technology is a Yokogawa innovation.
